About The Position

Job Purpose: To set up production fabrication jobs for aluminum components to specifications and ensure work centers are operating in accordance with established guidelines and customer requirements. Responsibilities include quality, production support, training and continuous improvement of either automotive or non-automotive work centers, or group of work centers. Also conduct minor maintenance & repairs to machinery located within area(s) of responsibility.

Requirements

High school diploma, and 1-2 years work related experience in machining and fabricating metal (extruded aluminum) components preferred.
Able to operate/set-up presses, gages, CNCs, saws and other equipment related to the machining and fabrication of aluminum extrusions.
Basic computer and shop math skills, good verbal and interpersonal communications skills, able to work with minimal supervision; must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.

Requires standing for long periods of time and walking (up to 7 hours). Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls; lifting up to 10 lbs frequently, and occasionally up to 50 lbs; exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable; wearing common protective or safety equipment.

Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles is a plus.

Responsibilities

Set up existing jobs per instruction and knowledge
Replace punches, details, drills & cutters as required
Perform complete buy out of part
Perform rounds inspection on parts within cell
Monitor process for a quality part
Adjust equipment for out of tolerance or out of spec conditions
Attend adjustment alerts & quality alerts
Make sure that lines are supplied with items necessary to run line
Maintain 5S within cell
Have knowledge to run CMM program for parts within their cell
Perform light maintenance and assist maintenance were needed
Monitor production of jobs within the cells (includes ensuring operators are trained, following standard work instructions, inspection instructions and all documentation is complete), and report to Supervisor
Monitor inventory needed to keep job running
Perform layer process audits as scheduled
Generate DARs and send to appropriate people
Supply training to operators
May be required to work overtime in support of production operations.
