What You Will Do: The Cell Leader will take part in the stand up and start of production for the PW1900 Assembly line at the Middletown, CT Engine Center. The Cell Leader will provide leadership and direction with emphasis on team building through employee meetings, effective communications, and in developing an efficient team that is responsible for engine assembly. Establish standards and expectation for work effort and performance for subordinates. Give constant feedback on performance to those standards. Communicate with other department personnel and customers to ensure customer satisfaction and actively to address issues and engage the workforce in achieving production goals. Coach employees to improve performance when needed; perform administrative functions as related to bargaining unit employees including maintaining training, quality, and attendance records. Ensure department equipment is clean, properly maintained, records and labels properly affixed, and uptime optimized while meeting all safety requirements. Ensure that all employees are fully trained in required aspects of Environmental Health & Safety; ensure World Class safety culture is maintained and respond to all Environmental Health & Safety requirements promptly. Ensure full involvement in CORE (Customer Oriented Results and Excellence) continuous improvement initiatives is consistently upheld; utilize CORE tools to improve production, performance, and reduce scrap, rework, and repair. Ensure compliance to all Quality policies and procedures; control quality, productivity, and process flow to meet customer MRP requirements while ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years experience in an engineering, manufacturing, operations management, quality or related industrial environment or a Masters’ degree in related field and minimum 3 years’ experience in an engineering, manufacturing, operations management, quality or related industrial environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Understanding of continuous improvement tools such as Six Sigma and Lean

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a team lead/supervisory capacity
  • Demonstrated leadership attributes and ability to influence business objectives.
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement principles (CORE, QCPC, etc.)
  • Experience with Environmental Health & Safety principles
  • Advanced skills in MS PowerPoint and Excel
