Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 - 9 years of experience required
  • Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment
  • Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position

Responsibilities

  • Prepare construction inspection summaries of daily activities
  • Review drawings, specifications, and other contract documents for constructability
  • Review detailed records of the contractor’s daily operations including manpower, equipment, construction methods, and events that affect the work
  • Track / measure completed work quantities for payment
  • Manage the team of inspectors, coordinate their schedules and oversee their work and records
  • Coordinate and communicate material testing requirements on the project
  • Monitor work zone traffic control plan and identify discrepancies and potential issues
  • Monitor the erosion control plan and identify discrepancies and potential issues
  • Verify the dimensions and calculations of prepared and completed work
  • Analyze complex construction/design problems requiring the development of new or improved techniques or procedures
  • Inform Client on project issues and provide them with recommendations
  • Interact with Project Managers and clients in a proactive manner to determine what routine issues affecting project management need to be addressed
  • Maintain construction project records in accordance with GDOT and project specific procedures
  • Interface proactively with the project managers, contractors, and inspection staff on various facets of the project
  • Perform/oversee the review of daily inspection reports and quantity computations
  • Direct and assign specific tasks to inspectors and assist in all phases of the construction project
  • Ensure timely completion of time sheets and expense reports
