The CE ISHS Curriculum Development Teacher (part-time contracted), also referred to as Author, works under specific contractual assignment(s). This role involves developing original, innovative, and relevant curriculum and learning experiences for both domestic and international High School students. The content developed includes, but is not limited to, syllabi (covering course description, objectives/outcomes, methodology, grading criteria, grade computation, and course policies), course materials, and quiz questions and answers.

  • Possess professional expertise for original content creation.
  • Attach an updated Curriculum Vitae and cover letter to the application.
  • List individual contact information for three recommenders on the application.

Responsibilities

  • Create an outline for the scope and sequence of the course by modules, lessons and assignments, per contract.
  • Create course content for the scope and sequence of the course modules, including lesson materials, assignments, study guides, exam and quiz questions, per contract and in conjunction with State and National Standards.
  • Submit content for weekly lessons that will be built in Canvas by the designer.
  • Verify the material created matches the standards outlined.
  • Review final modules for accuracy.
  • Collaborate and stay in contact with the course designer until the outline is satisfactory.
  • Meet weekly with the Instructional Designer to collaborate on the content.
  • Meet agreed upon and contracted deadlines for satisfactory completion.
  • Ensure HS courses are written at an eight-grade reading level and Middle School Courses are written at a sixth-grade level, unless stated otherwise.
  • Ensure Course Curriculum is original content from professional expertise.
  • Understand that content created will be the sole property of BYU ISHS.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
