The Costco Digital Services Division is inviting students currently enrolled in an IT or related undergraduate or graduate program at a college or university to participate in a twelve -week paid internship program during 2026. Interns will work within specific areas in Costco’s Information Systems Division. Interns will attend presentations given by various members of Executive Management from IT and other areas of the Company. Interns will be responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses. Housing is not provided. The program runs mid June to early September and is located in Issaquah, WA. No out of state work allowed. All interns will adhere to the CDS hybrid work model of three days onsite and two days remote.
The IT Privacy team supports the overarching values and business goals of Costco as they relate to meeting legal and regulatory obligations, identifying technical risks to the business, protecting member data and privacy, and ensuring continued compliance with Costco’s policies.. IT Privacy is responsible for establishing compliance controls in order to meet applicable privacy regulations.
The IT Privacy Compliance Team intern is a key member of the IT Information Security and Compliance team reporting to the Manager of the IT Privacy team. This position will be focused on all aspects of Privacy that involve our Costco Wholesale Privacy posture, handling of PI data, and how we are compliant with U.S. State and International Privacy Laws. This includes, but is not limited to, creating, institutionalizing, and rolling out an Integrated Controls framework that addresses the multitude of regulatory Privacy requirements with internal stakeholders for reporting on progress versus objectives on a regular basis, which includes the design, collation, review, analysis, distribution, and communication of our Privacy framework. This position will be focused on all aspects of Privacy risk management and data with a particular emphasis on California Privacy Law, HIPAA, PII (domestic and international), GDPR, and other industry or regulatory compliance that impact the Costco Mobile app.
The IT Privacy Compliance intern will work closely with the digital teams, including architects, developers, analytics experts, and other teams to build and maintain a strong privacy rules engine that meets the security, privacy, risk, and compliance requirements laid out by Information Security, Compliance, legal, and business stakeholders.
NOTE: While participating in the IT Internship program, an individual will be classified as an hourly temporary employee for the duration of the program. During the program, the individual may be asked to undergo the normal interview process for a level 1 position. If the individual is offered a position, they will be converted to the employment status matching open job they were selected for. If they are not selected for a regular position, the internship position will be complete in a maximum of twelve weeks.

Requirements

• Must possess excellent attention to detail around data, PI analysis and risk assessments
• Must understand the technical data flows as described by the business.
• Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Possess good organizational, time, and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize, and stay well organized.
• Must be maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Must be students currently enrolled in an IT undergraduate or graduate program at a community college, college or university.
