The Costco Digital Services Division is inviting students currently enrolled in an IT or related undergraduate or graduate program at a college or university to participate in a twelve -week paid internship program during 2026. Interns will work within specific areas in Costco’s Information Systems Division. Interns will attend presentations given by various members of Executive Management from IT and other areas of the Company. Interns will be responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses. Housing is not provided. The program runs mid June to early September and is located in Issaquah, WA. No out of state work allowed. All interns will adhere to the CDS hybrid work model of three days onsite and two days remote. As a Digital Member Communication Intern on our Transactional messages team, you will sit at the intersection of technical execution and member experience, focusing on optimizing the "post-click" journey. Your primary goal is to manage and refine messaging and processes on our MarTech platform—such as order emails, status updates, and account alerts—that build member trust and deepen loyalty. You will emphasize automation reliability and data-driven personalization, transforming high-volume transactional touchpoints into seamless, member-centric experiences. By troubleshooting technical integrations and analyzing trigger performance, you will play a key role in ensuring our communication stack scales effectively to support a high-performance global communications system. As part of our mission to improve customer satisfaction, you will contribute to projects that directly impact how Costco communicates with its members through the transactional messaging landscape. NOTE: While participating in the IT Internship program, an individual will be classified as an hourly temporary employee for the duration of the program. During the program, the individual may be asked to undergo the normal interview process for a level 1 position. If the individual is offered a position, they will be converted to the employment status matching open job they were selected for. If they are not selected for a regular position, the internship position will be complete in a maximum of twelve weeks.

Requirements

  • Ability to learn MarTech SaaS products and apply knowledge in real-world business scenarios.
  • Comfortable working in both business and technical environments.
  • Strong logical thinking skills. Ability to think creatively in order to envision relationships between data.
  • Resourceful, self-motivated and able to meet responsibilities with minimal direct supervision.
  • Accountable team player with a constructive attitude, problem-solving and customer service mindset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess good organizational, time, and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize, and stay well organized.
  • Currently maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Students currently enrolled in an IT or related undergraduate or graduate program at a community college, college or university.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Agile and DevOps methodologies.
  • Experience in data management and development.
  • Experience with digital marketing campaigns
  • Experience in researching and documenting methodologies or technical processes to support team learning and project success.
  • Costco Ecommerce experience is a plus.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace applications, including Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Gmail.

  • Works with stakeholders to align and support the digital experience goals and objectives across the organization.
  • Performs data analysis to provide insights that support key business functions and decision-making across Costco.
