The CDOC Journeyman Electrician Lieutenant CSLTS II position is a supervisory role within the Colorado Department of Corrections, specifically at the Centennial Correctional Facility in Canon City, CO. This role involves overseeing electrical operations, ensuring safety and security within the facility, and providing leadership to staff and inmates.   • Maintain safety and security of facility and work sites.
  • Clearly and accurately communicate to train staff and inmates in the proper use of controlled items, keys, tools, equipment, chemicals and procedures.
  • Conduct work site searches, monitoring workplace environment and inmate behavior.
  • Initiate verbal reprimands when warranted, and if necessary, physically control inmates with the proper application of restraints or 'use of force' techniques.
  • Provide supervision or work lead duties of assigned staff, promoting a high level of performance by setting the work standard.
  • Promote safe construction/work practices and the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Participate in hiring process.
  • Implement (or provide worklead input) in Performance Management Program (PMP) for assigned staff.
  • Coach and mentor staff regarding agency processes, encouraging a cohesive team, career development and ensuring the completion of annual training.
  • Resolve conflict and informal grievances at the lowest level possible.
  • Ensure safe, efficient, compliant and cost effective electrical systems and their preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance.
  • Plan projects by reviewing work order, reading blueprints, anticipating challenges, researching historical data and obtaining vendor price quotes.
  • Coordinate logistical support with the other trades and shops, utilizing resources efficiently, assigning tasks, inspecting work and ensuring timely completion of projects.
  • Ensure strict compliance with the National Electric Code (NEC) and all other applicable regulations, policy, guidelines and standards, keeping accurate and timely records.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of supplies.
  • Active Journeyman Electrician license issued by the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA).
  • Five (5) years of employment experience performing preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance and/or installations of electrical systems.
  • Ability to create a cohesive team while mentoring and motivating assigned staff.
  • Self motivation and exceptional discernment and decision making skills.
  • Ability to delegate effectively and excellent time management skills.
  • Proficiency in electrical systems and electronic devices.
  • Ability to read blueprints and conduct relevant research.
  • Related experience in a construction, industrial or commercial setting.
