About The Position

The Truss delivery driver will transfer products, goods, and other merchandise from one location to another.

Requirements

  • Ability to drive safely.
  • Ability to use navigation tools such as onboard GPS, smartphone apps, and/or web-based or physical maps.
  • Ability to plan delivery routes.
  • Ability to maintain basic logs and records.
  • Ability to carry out a series of instructions without constant supervision.
  • Able to remain professional and courteous at all times.
  • The ability to adjust the controls of a machine or vehicle quickly and repeatedly to exact positions.
  • Must be able to meet the driver eligibility guidelines for the company.
  • Must successfully complete all company training and certification requirements regarding equipment usage, including obtaining a forklift certification.
  • Must be qualified to drive a commercial motor vehicle under FMCSR rules, which includes having a current and unrestricted DOT physical card per the FMCSR requirements.
  • Must have current and appropriate operator’s license for the equipment being operated or towed, or the manner in which the equipment is used according to the following chart: Driver Designation Non-CDL Operator’s License Required TX -- Class C OK – Class C or D NM – Class C or D Equipment Operations Allowed This driver may operate any vehicle of 26,000# or less Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) provided: The vehicle IS NOT towing a utility trailer rated for over 10,000# Driver Designation Non-CDL/Phy Operator’s License Required TX -- Class C OK – Class C or D NM – Class C or D Equipment Operations Allowed This driver may operate any vehicle of 26,000# or less Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) provided: The vehicle IS NOT towing a utility trailer rated for over 10,000# Can cross state lines and must have current DOT Physical Driver Designation CDL-B Operator’s License Required TX -- Class B OK – Class B NM – Class B Equipment Operations Allowed This driver may operate any vehicle that exceeds 26,000# provided: The vehicle IS NOT a combination unit (tractor/trailer) The vehicle IS NOT towing a utility trailer rated over 10,000# Driver Designation CDL-A Operator’s License Required TX -- Class A OK – Class A NM – Class A Equipment Operations Allowed This driver may operate any vehicle including combination units (tractor/trailer) and may tow a utility trailer rated over 10,000#.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Be able to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway signs and signals and to respond to official inquires.
  • Hold a valid driver's license for the type of vehicle that is being operated.
  • Successful completion of on-the-job training; completing levels 1 and 2 of the positional training offered.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting.
  • Must be able to use the three-point hold when getting into trucks and/or forklifts.
  • Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds at times, occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds, and push and/or pull 50 pound loads at a time.
  • May need to work overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to work in various types of weather.

Responsibilities

  • Drives company vehicles safely and efficiently to deliver and/or pick-up building materials from distribution centers or other locations to retail stores, vendor warehouses, and/or other sites as assigned by company personnel.
  • Verifies order details, records delivery information, and obtains proper signatures on delivery paperwork as needed for accurate tracking.
  • Follows directions or uses a map to locate delivery addresses or locations efficiently.
  • Acts as a customer service liaison for the company, including treating all internal customers with respect, listening to and assisting in resolving customer complaints.
  • Informs management or supervisory personnel of any complaints or requests in a timely manner.
  • Maintains the cleanliness and appearance of the inside and outside of delivery vehicles.
  • Performs routine safety check on vehicles according to company guidelines.
  • May assist in distribution yard and warehouse with housekeeping stocking, loading and organizing materials.
  • Complies with all company safety standards, and all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Operates a forklift.
  • Attends all store meetings and training sessions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
