About The Position

Dickerson & Bowen - Paving the way for growth and development since 1947 D&B is a leading provider of aggregates, asphalt and asphalt paving services in central and southern Mississippi. D&B operates four asphalt plants and two active sand and gravel plants and is a natural extension to our recently established Southeast platform, further strengthening our vertically integrated footprint. General Summary Drives truck with capacity under 3 tons to transport materials in liquid or packaged form and personnel to and from specified destinations, such as railroad stations, plants, residences, offices, or within industrial yards. This Driver must be capable of moving equipment, hauling drill cuttings and/or fluids in a safe and professional manner. Essential Job Accountabilities Verifies load against shipping papers. Drives truck to destination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and roads in area. Prepares receipts for load picked up. Collects payment for goods delivered and for delivery charges. May maintain truck log according to state and federal regulations. May maintain telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions. May drive truck equipped with public address system through city streets to broadcast announcements over system for advertising or publicity purposes. May load and unload truck. May inspect truck equipment and supplies, such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water. May perform emergency roadside repairs, such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, fuses, tire chains, and spark plugs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience
  • License required.
  • 1 to 3 yrs. experience
  • Read and interpret road maps
  • Practice good safety habits
  • Work in dusty or dirty surroundings
  • Follow instructions and meet set standards for hauling and scheduling
  • Judge distances and weights accurately
  • Make decisions based on verifiable standards.
  • Stoop, bend, and crouch
  • Use hands, arms, and legs fully
  • See well (either naturally or with correction)
  • Lift up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
