The Opportunity We are seeking versatile CDL Drivers to support our expanding lines of business in Cloverdale and the surrounding Botetourt County area. From maneuvering high-performance Frontload trucks at commercial sites to delivering Roll-Off containers or leading a Residential crew, you will be the face of GFL. We provide the modern fleet and the "Green Ribbon" support; you provide the elite driving skills.

Requirements

  • The Credentials: A valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL Class A or B) with at least 1 year of commercial driving experience (or a CDL school certificate).
  • The Strength: Ability to exert muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs repetitively and occasionally move/push up to 300 lbs.
  • The Mindset: A self-starter attitude with the flexibility to adapt to changing Virginia weather conditions and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Technical Skill: Knowledge of truck components and basic maintenance requirements; ability to recognize unacceptable waste (flammables, hazardous materials).

Responsibilities

  • Master the Fleet: Drive and operate commercial frontload, roll-off, or residential equipment along designated routes to collect and transport waste to post-collection facilities.
  • Precision Maneuvering: Navigate trucks into and out of tight clearance spaces and enclosures, using mirrors to back distances of 120+ feet.
  • Service Excellence: Open gates and enclosures to access containers; manually roll 3-4 yard cans on castors into position for dumping as needed.
  • Safety & Inspections: Perform rigorous daily pre- and post-trip inspections (DVIRs) and follow all lockout/tagout procedures. Safety is our way of life.
  • Site Stewardship: Ensure customer sites are cleaner than you found them by clearing loose trash or spills during the dumping process.
  • Technology Integration: Use key maps and GPS to navigate routes and maintain digital/manual logbooks and productivity sheets.
