The CDL Training Instructor at Heartland Coca-Cola Bottling Company is responsible for training and preparing individuals to obtain their Commercial Driver's License (CDL). This role involves delivering comprehensive training that adheres to state and DOT regulations, as well as Heartland's safety policies. The instructor will utilize effective teaching skills to ensure candidates are well-prepared for driver positions within the company.

  • Train and prepare candidates to successfully attain a CDL license.
  • Deliver classroom, yard, and road training in accordance with regulatory and company policies and procedures related to driver roles.
  • Maintain all records and compliance documents for the training program.
  • Ensure that all training and student records are up to date and compliant with FMCSA regulations.
  • Provide training and validate in-outlet delivery expectations, service standards, and functional handheld computer knowledge.
  • Monitor student progress, document progress, perform evaluations, and identify gaps.
  • Provide feedback and additional assistance as needed.
  • Conduct regular in-market driver observations to improve delivery performance.
  • Support safety initiatives by conducting safety observations and training after accidents or injuries.
  • Enhance the department and organization by accepting ownership of job responsibilities and seeking continuous improvement.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of two years of work experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and a clean driving record within MVR guidelines required.
  • CDL license must cover both automatic and manual vehicles.
  • Prior experience with commercial driving required.
  • Ability to attend and successfully pass CDL Instructor certification via a third party.
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate and provide training to others.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to operate a manual or powered pallet jack.
