About The Position

The Swing Driver will safely operate one or more vehicle types including Front End, Roll Off, Residential and other trucks utilizing various collection methods to service customers in a safe and efficient manner. Deliver collected solid waste or recyclables to landfill, MRF or transfer station. Fill in for various routes as needed to ensure consistent service. What You Get: Competitive pay Consistent, full-time hours Overtime opportunities (where available) Bi-weekly pay Medical, dental, and vision benefits 401(k) with company match Paid time off and paid holidays Company-paid life insurance and short-term disability Boot allowance (where applicable) Well-maintained, modern fleet Safety-focused culture Opportunities for advancement into Lead Driver, Trainer, Dispatcher, or Operations roles What You’ll Do Safely operate automatic and manual transmission trucks on assigned collection routes (solid waste, recycling, yard waste) Swing between different Lines of Business based on needs (residential, Front End, Roll off) Routes may vary daily based on service needs Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections, daily truck reports, and route documentation Operate truck and equipment using safe, prescribed techniques Communicate mechanical issues immediately to the shop and supervisor Maintain a clean truck (inside and out) Manage assigned Helper(s), if applicable Provide professional customer service while on route Perform extra pick-ups and special service requests as needed Assist with training new drivers when required Attend safety and branch meetings Follow all DOT, federal, state, local, and company safety regulations Wear required PPE at all times Report all accidents or incidents immediately

Requirements

  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
  • Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience OR CDL school certificate
  • Ability to meet safety-sensitive position requirements
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Ability to safely maneuver trucks in tight spaces and heavy traffic
  • Comfortable backing distances of 100+ feet using mirrors
  • Knowledge of basic truck components and safe operation
  • Ability to recognize and report unacceptable waste
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to read route sheets, maps, and service documents
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly (occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance)
  • Commitment to safety and professionalism

Responsibilities
