About The Position

As a CDL Shuttle Operator, you’ll play an important role in delivering safe and reliable transportation for passengers on the Southern Methodist University campus, year-round. You’ll operate assigned shuttle vehicles, follow established routes and schedules, and ensure every rider receives a positive shuttle experience. This role offers consistent routes, shuttle stops, and schedule, with a unique opportunity to interact with a variety of students, faculty, staff, and public riders.

Requirements

  • 21 years of age or older
  • Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License with Passenger Endorsement of 26 passengers or more (required),
  • Responsible driving record
  • DOT Medical Examiner's Health Card required (company will provide for qualified applicants)
  • Ability to operate lift accessible vehicles
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • High standard of integrity
  • Experience delivering quality service in customer/public environment
  • Displays a positive attitude, flexibility, initiative and ability to communicate effectively
  • Interpersonal Skills: Remains open to others' ideas and exhibits willingness to try new things
  • Able to read, write, comprehend, and converse in the English language

Nice To Haves

  • Previous driving experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate shuttle vehicles according to scheduled routes and timetables.
  • Ensure safe and courteous loading and unloading of passengers, including those with mobility needs.
  • Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company procedures.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in proper working condition.
  • Promptly report maintenance concerns or vehicle issues to the Shuttle Supervisor.
  • Maintain on-time route performance and communicate any delays or route changes as needed.
  • Provide professional, courteous service to all passengers and assist as needed during boarding and disembarking.
  • Respond to passenger questions, concerns, or complaints with patience and professionalism.
  • Keep accurate daily records of passenger counts, mileage, fuel usage, and any incidents.
  • Maintain a clean, fueled, and well-kept shuttle vehicle.
  • Complete all required daily reports and logs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
