Requirements

  • Must possess a commercial driver’s license and have a valid DOT physical or the ability to get one.
  • Knowledge of general principles and practices of operating and servicing ready-mix trucks is preferred.
  • Experience with Department of Transportation rules and regulations is preferred.
  • Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands.
  • Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
  • Must be able to take responsibility for customer relationships and appropriately represent Vulcan on job sites and while transporting product on public streets and highways.
  • Must have a clean and safe driving record and the ability to safely operate and control equipment while on the job.

Responsibilities

  • Promote Safety by prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards.
  • Operate ready-mix truck in accordance with all federal, state, and Vulcan regulations, including receiving a load, evaluating slump, and driving to the job site.
  • Maneuver truck on job site, attach chutes to discharge material, and clean truck to minimize concrete buildup.
  • Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections and accurately complete daily mobile equipment reports.
  • Clean the outside of the vehicle and chutes to ensure the absence of concrete build-up at the end of each shift.
  • Complete all forms, service reports, tickets, and required paperwork to ensure organization of documents and needed paperwork.
  • Work closely with dispatch, maintenance, and plant management to facilitate the flow of information required to provide good customer service.
  • Perform physical activities such as cleaning all areas on the vehicle, climbing a ladder to inspect loads of ready mix concrete, hanging mixer chutes, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Other duties as assigned.
