About The Position

DOT Drivers at Memorial Blood Centers transport bloodmobiles and provide customer service during community blood drives. This role involves ensuring safe and on-time delivery of vehicles, maintaining vehicle cleanliness and supply inventory, and performing customer service duties during blood drives. Drivers also transport units, samples, and donor medical records to the processing center. Memorial Blood Centers, founded in 1948, serves Minnesota and Wisconsin, delivering over 125,000 lifesaving blood products annually to 50+ hospitals. It is part of New York Blood Center Enterprises (NYBCe), which operates across 17+ states and delivers over one million blood products annually. NYBCe also provides cellular therapies, specialty pharmacy, and medical services, and includes the Lindsley F. Kimball Research Institute, a leader in hematology and transfusion medicine research. MBC is dedicated to helping patients and advancing global public health.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid/Current CDL (Class A OR Class B w/ Airbrakes)
  • Current Medical Card / ability to pass a DOT Physical
  • Ability to lift 40lbs and able to push rolling equipment

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years driving trucks, buses, coaches, or larger cargo vehicles
  • Excellent driving record free of any accidents of moving violations within the past 3 years
  • Customer service experience
  • Defensive driving

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, transport, unload, load and return vehicles before and after assigned blood drives
  • Begin Day: Mobile Preparation and Site Setup for a Blood Drive
  • During Drive: Providing customer service, on-site recruiting for donors, and automation recruitment
  • End of Drive: Site Takedown and safe transport of products to center
  • Ensure exceptional customer service for donors and sponsors
  • Maintains and promotes inter departmental teamwork and communication
  • Demonstrates flexibility, versatility and a willingness to assist coworkers
  • Demonstrates dependability, punctuality and cooperation
  • Maintains adequate inventory of supplies on vehicles
  • Ensure that vehicles are clean
  • Completes all duties in a professional manner, including transporting units, samples, and donor medical records to the processing center
