WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING The CDL - Utility position is responsible for the transportation and transfer of product in-between facilities. This position is also responsible for performing other warehouse or shipping unloader/loader duties during non-driving time. Transfers trailers between facilities in truck, no OTR driving. Operates yard truck to position trailers to appropriate loading/unloading docks as requested by shipping and receiving departments. Performs daily yard truck and trailer inspections prior to use. Observes and reports equipment or mechanical failures immediately. Maintains accurate logs for all trailers on the yard. Operates a forklift within the plant during non-driving time when loading/unloading trucks or rail cars. Safely and efficiently operates forklift; performs required daily inspections. Reads and understands Bills of Lading and Pick Sheet. Uses daily pick sheet, picks full and partial pallets, wraps pallets when necessary, stages product for loading, checks pallets for accuracy to order Weighs product for storage in warehouse Cleans in and around equipment as needed. Cleans warehouse as needed. Drives tractor, lawn mower, forklift, skid steer or other equipment. Communicates with management and maintenance personnel on a timely basis to facilitate maintenance and repairs. Complies with company safety policies and maintains clean and orderly work area and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) procedures, including timely and accurate documentation of required SQF forms. Other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Valid Class A CDL
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
  • Forklift certification or ability to become certified within 30 days.
  • Experience and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to perform basic math skills.
  • Ability to work well with all levels of employees whether individually or in a team environment.
  • Effectively communicate questions, problems and reports to co-workers, supervisory and management personnel.
  • Flexibility to accommodate unscheduled changes in duties and work overtime as needed.
