At Frederick Living the CDL Driver provides transportation needs of the residents of Frederick Living. As a CDL- Driver, you'll be responsible for safely transporting residents of Frederick Living to meet their transportation needs. You'll play a key role in ensuring residents feel comfortable, secure, and well cared for every step of the way.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License
  • CDL with proper endorsement required to operate a 23-passenger bus
  • Prior driving experience and a safe driving record required
  • Good physical and mental health — must provide a satisfactory physician exam and TB Test or chest X-ray upon hire and as required thereafter
  • Strong communication skills — must be able to understand, read, write, and speak English effectively
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions
  • Willingness to assist in emergencies as needed

Responsibilities

  • Practice safe driving skills at all times and maintain a clean driving record
  • Ensure residents are comfortable and safely secured during transport
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the mechanical wheelchair lift and vehicle safety features
  • Maintain proper fuel levels and immediately report any mechanical or body defects to the Transportation Manager
  • Know the bus route to and from all designated sites
  • Respond to scheduling requests within 24–48 hours
  • Report any incidents involving residents to the Transportation Manager or appropriate staff
  • Keep vehicles clean and well-maintained
  • Keep an operating cell phone available at all times during transport
  • Support on-campus needs as assigned, including package and meal delivery, data entry, training of new drivers, and fluid checks
  • Abide by the organization's code of conduct at all times
  • Uphold the Frederick Living Mission Statement and demonstrate core values of respect, integrity, compassion, and excellence
  • Provide excellent customer service to residents, staff, volunteers, families, visitors, and vendors
  • Maintain resident and staff confidentiality
  • Support person-centered care
