The CDL Driver is responsible for the safe and timely delivery of goods and other articles of trade to job sites for installation. This role involves driving and maintaining assigned trucks, and collaborating closely with dispatchers to plan routes and ensure timely deliveries. Essential job functions include driving long distances, loading, unloading, and recording cargo deliveries, maintaining paperwork, refueling and cleaning the vehicle, inspecting trucks and recording issues, reporting road incidents to the dispatcher, and mechanical problems to maintenance personnel. The driver must follow traffic laws and accident procedures, keep an activity log and log hours, plan routes using a GPS system, and keep commercial driver requirements up to date. The position also requires working safely under adverse environmental and weather conditions, including high-speed traffic areas, heavy construction equipment, fuel fumes, and construction substances.
