About The Position

CSPNJ, a mental health nonprofit agency, is looking for 2 temporary Warming Center NJCDL Bus Driver(s). The Warming Center provides emergency overnight shelter for the unhoused from November through March. The Warming Center provides a warm safe place for unsheltered individuals to spend the night during the winter months.

Requirements

• NJ Commercial Driver's License (CDL) REQUIRED.
• Clean driving record with no accidents or violations within the last 3 years.
• High School diploma / GED.
• Efficiency and time-management.
• Excellent driving skills and knowledge of traffic laws and regulations.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and focused in stressful situations.
• Ability to work with individuals with mental illness in a caring and professional manner.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office).

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience as a bus driver preferred.
• Bilingual skills are a plus.
• Lived Experience: CSPNJ prioritizes hiring people who use their own life experience dealing with mental health/substance use issues to inspire and support others.

Responsibilities

• Must have a NJ Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
• Transport passengers in Hudson County to the Warming Center in Kearny, NJ.
• Communicate effectively with passengers.
• Maintains orderly conduct of passengers on bus.
• Assist passengers with boarding and exiting the bus, if needed.
• Report accidents, incidents, or mechanical problems to the center manager.
• Inspect the bus before and after each trip to ensure it is in good working condition and ensure cleanliness after each shift.
