Your best fit for this position The CDL Driver is responsible for safely transporting construction equipment and materials between the shop and project sites. This position plays a key role in keeping operations running efficiently by ensuring timely delivery and pickup of heavy equipment, tools, and small machinery. The position also requires a general knowledge of mechanical systems to assist the maintenance team when needed. Your daily challenges and goals Load and unload various equipment such as trowel machines, light towers, generators, air compressors, compactors, vibrators, saws, and small excavators. Safely operate CDL A vehicles to deliver and pick up construction equipment, tools, and materials between job sites and the shop. Secure loads following DOT regulations and company safety procedures. Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any issues immediately. Maintain accurate delivery logs and records of transported items. Conduct basic inspections on equipment before transport to ensure it is safe and functional. Assist the Shop team with light mechanical tasks such as checking fluids, cleaning, lubricating, and identifying repair needs. Support the maintenance shop with organization, minor repairs, and preparation of equipment for delivery. Maintain the cleanliness and good working condition of assigned truck and trailer. Follow all applicable DOT, OSHA, and Wheeler Services safety regulations. Communicate effectively with project managers, shop personnel, and superintendents to coordinate equipment deliveries and pickups. What do you need to succeed in this Role? Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A High school Diploma/GED 2+ years of commercial driving experience, preferably in the construction or heavy equipment industry. Basic mechanical aptitude or experience working around small equipment is strongly preferred. OSHA 30 certification preferred.
