Position Summary Toledo Steel Supply, Inc. is seeking a professional Class A CDL Truck Driver that is dependable and has exceptional customer service skills. A qualified candidate will ensure safe and accurate deliveries, be detail-oriented, efficient, and have a clean driving record. Toledo Steel delivers to the tri-state area of Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana. Drivers perform day only driving, and are home every night. The regular work schedule is Monday through Friday.

Requirements

  • Clean driving record with no moving violations
  • Must pass a background check and drug test
  • Comfortable maneuvering and parking a tractor-trailer
  • Alert, focused, and detail-oriented
  • Proficient using GPS and other routing systems
  • Valid Class A driver’s license
  • 1 year proven experience with tractor-trailer driving
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, and squat to ensure proper loading and unloading of materials

Responsibilities

  • Fully understand how to operate and safely drive assigned delivery vehicle
  • Stay on predetermined route and ensure timely deliveries
  • Communicate with dispatch as needed
  • Ensure proper loading and organization of steel plates for safe transportation and delivery
  • Safely and efficiently handle and unload orders at selected destinations
  • Confirm contents of each load matches the packing order document
  • Obtain signatures or warehouse scans to confirm and complete deliveries with customers
  • Inform customers and supervisor of any potential delays
  • Maintain detail driving and delivery logs
  • Notify supervisor of any major maintenance or delivery issues encountered
  • Check weather conditions and road reports before departure and throughout the day as conditions may change
  • Secure tarps are properly placed over the trailer to keep material protected from weather and road conditions, as needed
  • Perform inspections of assigned vehicle before and following each trip
  • Ensure assigned vehicle is clean and free of debris
  • Maintain and service vehicle as needed (refuel, tire pressure, repairs, etc.)
  • Obey all traffic laws and drive according to weather and road conditions
  • Comply with DOT regulations
  • Report all vehicle-related issues for urgent attention
  • Keep track of all reasonable expenses and submit receipts to obtain reimbursement
  • Other duties assigned
