About The Position

The position involves performing driving duties to deliver and unload products at customer locations, with pickups determined by dispatch. The role requires over-the-road travel for 2-3 nights per week. Responsibilities include inspecting the truck before and after trips, checking essential fluids, ensuring loads are secured, maneuvering the truck for loading and unloading, and breaking down loads for delivery to various departments. The driver must maintain accurate records of products carried, delivered, and returned, and keep in contact with the supervisor for instructions. Compliance with state and federal regulations is mandatory, especially for Over the Road (OTR) functions, which also require maintaining accurate driver logs. Additional tasks may be assigned to support team operations.

Requirements

  • Provide outstanding customer service during delivery and pickup operations.
  • Read and write in English to understand the bill of lading.
  • Maintain all required certifications as per DOT company safety programs.
  • Ability to push, pull, lift, and rotate with a Physical Demand Limit (PDL) generally at 60-70 lbs and occasionally at 150 lbs.
  • Work well in a team environment with a diverse group of people.
  • Work with minimal supervision and adhere to company policies.
  • Ability to operate and maintain equipment safely at all times.
  • CDL class A license is required.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 or more years of experience as an Over the Road truck driver.
  • Ability to work in severe weather conditions, both heat and cold.
  • Ability to make overnight runs as required by shipping needs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform driving to and unloading of product to customer locations.
  • Make pickups as determined by dispatch.
  • Inspect truck before and after trips and submit condition reports to Supervisor.
  • Check radiator and washer fluid to maintain the tractor-trailer.
  • Inspect load and ensure it is locked in and secured with load locks and straps.
  • Maneuver truck into loading and unloading positions as needed.
  • Unload the truck for customer delivery.
  • Break down load and deliver to each department as required by the store.
  • Obtain customer signatures and any required documents (e.g., DSD).
  • Maintain accurate records of products carried, delivered, and returned, including cash and checks.
  • Maintain telephone contact with Supervisor for instructions or dispatching.
  • Comply with state and federal weigh station regulations and related paperwork for OTR functions.
  • Maintain accurate driver log according to regulations for OTR functions.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned to support team operations.
