About the position

The position involves operating a commercial vehicle to deliver building materials to job sites while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The driver is responsible for maintaining the vehicle, managing deliveries, and assisting with loading and unloading materials, all while providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Delivers materials to job sites and ensures customer satisfaction during unloading.
• Maintains a current Class A or B Commercial Driver's License as required.
• Prepares DOT required log of time on duty and driving.
• Organizes and secures load for safe transport.
• Assists forklift operators when loading materials onto the truck.
• Accounts for all company funds, such as C.O.D.'s, during deliveries.
• Checks orders for accuracy before delivery.
• Completes daily equipment pre-inspection to ensure safety and compliance.
• Records all merchandise returned by truck and assists in unloading materials for credit.
• Follows guidelines established by the Department of Transportation during operations.
• Operates Boom in a safe and efficient manner, maintaining records regarding equipment use and time charged.
• Logs in deliveries on the supervisor's log sheet accurately.
• Waits on customers while the truck is being loaded and relays messages sent by customers while on the job.
• Assists supervisor and other employees in various work areas as assigned.
• Maintains good housekeeping in the yard and warehouse to ensure a safe working environment.
• Complies with the company's attendance policy by maintaining regular and predictable attendance.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Minimum education required: High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum experience required: 6 months CDL experience including lumber dumping.
• Basic CDL experience with flat beds and/or tractor trailers is required.
• Ability to perform arithmetic, read orders, write instructions, and complete forms accurately.
• Effective communication skills to interact with customers, employees, and supervisors both verbally and in writing.
• Clean driving record and current CDL operator's license with DOT qualifications.
