About The Position

The Driver/ Operator (Driver) reports to the Director of Operations and plays a critical role in daily, service line delivery. The Driver is usually assigned a position on one of Terra Nova’s field teams and works within that team to deliver environmental and industrial service engagements in a safe and productive way. The Driver works very closely with the Director of Operations and other staff members to execute defined and emergency service deliveries. Terra Nova Solution Inc. (Terra Nova) offers industrial and remedial services to several industries including manufacturing, transportation, retail, and energy in the eastern and midwestern United States.

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to speak professionally and courteously with customers and staff at job sites.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to follow instructions.
  • Must show demonstrated success in being reliable and maintaining safe operations.
  • Ability to remain focused in a busy environment.
  • Ability to work individually or with a team.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of maintenance and basic repairs associated with machinery or vehicle.
  • CDL A and/or B license – Tanker endorsements preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years’ professional driving experience required.
  • Must have mid-level knowledge of most (51%) of Terra Nova’s current service offerings with respect to equipment operation, means and methods, compliance, Health and Safety, etc.
  • Must be able to physically operate heavy equipment.
  • Stooping, Kneeling, Crouching, and Standing required.
  • Sitting, often for extended periods of time, is required.
  • Must be able to pass a Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) and wear a respirator.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Position is physical in nature and requires push/pulling, lifting, sit/standing, and exposure to outside elements.
  • Must be available for emergency rotations and/or overtime as necessary.
  • Ability to work in all types of weather, including hot and cold temperatures.

Responsibilities

  • Safely and professionally operate company owned equipment in complete accordance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Support and play an active role in the Company’s Health and Safety management system including hazard communication, tracking, near miss documentation, audits, and training.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and leadership skills on sites and with vendors, coworkers, and management.
  • Performs other necessary duties as assigned.
