Requirements

  • Related CDL experience and/or training is preferred.
  • Must possess a valid Class A commercial driver's license and be a company approved driver.
  • Must have current long form physical and medical card.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Basic math skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Willingness to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands.
  • Ability to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate exposure to loud noises.

Nice To Haves

  • Willingness to assist with the Paving Crew on an as needed basis.

Responsibilities

  • Promote Safety by prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards.
  • Drive tractor-trailer combination or tri-axle dump truck to transport and deliver materials.
  • Inspect truck for defects before and after trips and keep it clean and in good working order.
  • Submit report indicating truck condition after trips and maintain a driver log according to I.C. regulations.
  • Follow and maintain standards set for all equipment, tarp all loads, and load and unload material safely.
  • Perform physical activities such as cleaning all areas on the vehicle, climbing a ladder to inspect loads, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Other duties as assigned, including helping with paving duties as instructed by your Foreman/Upper Management.
