About The Position

Capital Waste Services (CWS) is a rapidly growing environmental services company providing residential, commercial, and industrial waste and recycling solutions across multiple states. Our drivers play a critical role in delivering reliable service safely and professionally to the communities we serve. The CDL Driver – Automated Side-Load (ASL) is responsible for operating an automated residential collection vehicle to safely and efficiently service assigned routes. This position focuses on automated side-load equipment and residential service, with an emphasis on safety, route efficiency, customer service, and DOT compliance. ASL drivers typically operate dual-drive automated trucks, allowing for right-side operation with minimal manual handling.

Requirements

  • Valid CDL (Class A or B)
  • Acceptable MVR and ability to meet company insurance requirements
  • Current DOT medical card
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Strong safety awareness and reliability
  • Possess valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
  • Two (2) years of satisfactory driving experience of Class A or B vehicles
  • Satisfactory MVR (Motor Vehicle Driving Record)
  • Must pass a DOT physical, drug screen and criminal background check

Nice To Haves

  • Previous ASL or residential route experience
  • Experience operating automated or dual-drive equipment
  • Prior waste, garbage, or local delivery driving experience
  • Previous experience with Front-End Load, Roll-Off, Rear-Load, Automated Side-Load (ASL)
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Prior waste industry driving experience

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate an Automated Side-Load (ASL) truck on assigned residential routes
  • Perform daily route assignments efficiently and on schedule
  • Use automated arms to collect carts while maintaining awareness of surroundings
  • Navigate residential neighborhoods safely and defensively
  • Comply with DOT and FMCSA regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS)
  • Perform required pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report any defects
  • Follow all company safety policies, traffic laws, and site-specific procedures
  • Immediately report accidents, incidents, injuries, or property damage
  • Provide courteous and professional service to customers and the public
  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance of assigned equipment
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and operations staff
  • Assist with basic yard or equipment-related tasks as assigned
  • Support team operations to ensure consistent service delivery
