About The Position

This opportunity is for a CDL Class B Driver within Orica USA Commercial team in Uvalde, TX. The role involves driving and operating Orica's bulk trucks (Mobile Manufacturing Units) and installing blasting products for customers at local construction sites, mines, and quarries. It is a blended role with approximately 40% driving and 60% physical work related to product installation, including loading, pulling hoses, and climbing on and off trucks in various weather conditions. The driver will also operate plant and equipment to provide blasting products and assist in delivering high-quality bulk explosives services, with a strong emphasis on safety and environmental responsibility.

Requirements

  • Valid Class B CDL required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in driving and/or material handling.
  • Solid understanding of DOT regulations required.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and basic math skills to manage daily inventory tasks.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects, daily responsibilities, and urgent situations to maintain efficiency.

Nice To Haves

  • Class A CDL is a plus.
  • Tanker endorsement preferred.
  • Hazmat endorsement preferred.
  • Willingness to obtain endorsements (support will be provided).

Responsibilities

  • Drive and operate Orica's bulk trucks (Mobile Manufacturing Units).
  • Install blasting products for customers at local construction sites, mines, and quarries.
  • Be accountable for the upkeep and maintenance of the equipment.
  • Perform product loading.
  • Drive a CDL truck.
  • Pull hoses.
  • Climb on and off the truck in all types of weather conditions.
  • Operate plant and equipment to provide blasting products.
  • Assist in delivering a high-quality service of bulk explosives to customers.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, including checking and refilling fluid levels.
  • Safely hook up and unhook trailers.
  • Operate emulsion tanker trucks and box trucks as part of daily responsibilities.
  • Ensure raw materials and hazardous goods are handled, stored, and used in compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Minimize environmental impact through waste reduction and control practices.
  • Immediately report any unusual incidents or accidents.
  • Actively participate in daily toolbox talks and monthly safety meetings to promote a safe and collaborative work environment.
