Requirements

  • Experience. Previous experience operating Class A commercial trucks transporting building and dry bulk materials is required.
  • Ready to Drive. Must possess a Class A commercial driver’s license and have a valid DOT physical. The ideal candidate must also be able to drive a truck with a manual transmission.
  • Flexibility. Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Best Practices. Knowledge of general principles and practices of operating and servicing heavy construction equipment is preferred. Experience with Department of Transportation rules and regulations for transporting heavy equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety for yourself and others at all times in accordance with Vulcan standards while operating equipment in and out of the plant.
  • Operate Commercial Trucks and Equipment. Operate a commercial truck to haul and transport loose materials such as sand, gravel, crushed rock, and/or other building materials. May operate equipment within the plant to load materials. The ideal candidate must hold a valid CDL Class A license.
  • Inspect Equipment. Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance with Vulcan standards. Complete daily mobile equipment reports and other relevant documentation with accuracy. Must be able to handle and understand Department of Transportation regulations, keeping all documentation up to date.
  • Maintain Equipment. Maintain equipment performance by checking vehicle fluid levels, and assist in performing other minor maintenance. Report unsafe mechanical conditions to supervisor.
  • Monitor Processes, Materials, and Surroundings. Monitor your surroundings when operating equipment in and out of the plant and report any necessary maintenance or adjustments that may be required to ensure safety.
  • Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.
