About The Position

Are you ready to launch a career in the high-demand transportation and logistics industry? Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation (AAWDC) is offering a CDL Class A or B training program for eligible Anne Arundel County residents. This program equips you with the skills, knowledge, and credentials you need to earn your CDL and begin gaining the experience required for long-term success in the industry. Program Details Training Dates: April 7, 2026 to May 12, 2026 Training Provider: Best CDL Location: Annapolis & Deal, Maryland Class Schedule: Theory Classes: Tuesday evenings, 5–8 PM (in-person) Skill & Driving Classes: Scheduled individually Pre-Trip Classes & Driving Test Preparation: Scheduled individually Participants have up to 3 attempts to pass the MVA CDL exam.

Requirements

  • Be an Anne Arundel County resident
  • Be 18 years or older
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Be registered with Selective Service (if male, born on or after 1/1/1960)
  • Pass a DOT physical and obtain a learner’s permit before training begins
  • Attend a suitability interview and meet priority of service criteria
  • Motivation and Commitment Demonstrated interest in a career in transportation/logistics. Willingness to adhere to the demanding schedule and complete all required classes, practice, and exams. Understanding of the physical and mental demands of driving professionally.
  • Availability & Schedule Readiness Ability to attend all required classes and testing, including evenings and weekends if necessary. Flexibility to participate in driving practice as scheduled.
  • Transportation & Logistics Awareness Awareness of what a career in trucking or logistics entails, including time away from home (if long-haul), safety expectations, and the need to build experience over time.
  • Physical & Health Readiness Ability to meet DOT physical requirements (including vision, hearing, and overall health) and pass a drug screening.
  • Basic Skills Sufficient English language proficiency to understand road signs, complete written tests, and communicate effectively. Basic math and map-reading skills.
  • Behavior & Professionalism Positive attitude, punctuality, and ability to work independently and responsibly. Clean driving record, or at least one that meets MVA/CDL standards.
