The Piggly Wiggly Alabama Distributing Company in Bessemer, AL is seeking Class-A CDL drivers to make deliveries to stores throughout the Southeast. This is an overnight driving position with loads going out between 8pm and 6am each night and returning to the warehouse after the deliveries are made. Drivers are home most nights. Drivers are guaranteed a 40-hour minimum each week and typically average between 45 and 55 hours per week. The CDL Class A truck driver is responsible for safely operating a commercial truck with trailer to transport goods from one destination to another. They drive routes of various distances while adhering to strict federal and state regulations governing commercial vehicle operation. This includes following hours of service limits, maintaining vehicle safety standards, and ensuring compliance with rest periods and other driver safety protocols. Additionally, truck drivers must maintain a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) and up to date medical card. They are trained in safe driving practices annually. In addition to safe delivery to the destination, the driver must also handle loading and unloading, inspecting cargo for damage, and completing necessary paperwork.
