About The Position
This position is for a CDL A Truck Driver based in Roanoke, VA, offering a weekly pay range of $1,425 to $1,450 and a $2,500 sign-on bonus. The role provides weekly home time with a 34-hour reset, focusing on regional routes within Virginia and West Virginia. The freight is no-touch, with assistance from a pallet jack. The schedule primarily involves night shifts, including coverage on weekends and holidays. The freight flow is structured around scheduled delivery windows to ensure a consistent weekly rhythm and allow drivers to maintain a predictable schedule around their home time. Drivers will handle approximately 4 weekly loads, covering about 2,000 total miles, with individual hauls averaging around 490 miles. Cargo operations include both drop-trailer and live unloading using electric pallet equipment, eliminating the need for manual heavy lifting. The regional assignment operates continuously with mostly nighttime departures. Drivers are required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, including preceding weeks for holiday coverage. A key benefit is weekly home arrival for a full 34-hour downtime, with the possibility for drivers residing within 30 miles of the facility to take daily 10-hour rest periods at home. The primary running area is Virginia and West Virginia, with return loads frequently routed through Indianapolis. Albany Trucking provides 2021 or newer Freightliner Cascadia and Kenworth tractors, all equipped with 1200-1500 watt power inverters and sleeper cabs, ensuring proper maintenance and road readiness.
Requirements
- Valid CDL A certification
- Residence within the recruitment zone
- Availability for this regional weekly home schedule
Responsibilities
- Handle regional shipments across Virginia and West Virginia territories
- Operate electric pallet equipment for live unloading
- Cover night shifts, weekends, and holiday periods as part of standard scheduling
- Perform occasional powered pallet jack operation (training provided)
