About The Position

Maine Oxy has an immediate opening for a Utility Worker at our Orlando, FL location. In this role you will be responsible for filling helium cylinders in compliance with federal, state, local regulations, and the standard operating procedures of Maine Oxy. Responsible for meeting all safety standards in the filling, loading and unloading of cylinder gases per Maine Oxy procedures. In addition, the Utility Worker will provide support for the Site Lead. Requirements

  • Complies with company and DOT guidelines and procedures relating to loading methods, loading for safety, availability of cylinders, and weight distribution.
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift (as required).
  • Must comply with safety/site work rules and regulations and housekeeping standards.
  • Must be familiar with 49CFR173.34 and CGA pamphlets C-5, C-6, C-6.1, C-6.2, C-6.3, C-13, S-1.1
  • Must demonstrate the capability of the testing equipment to perform the required tests to the degree of accuracy required by the regulations.
  • Must demonstrate the capability of external visual inspection according to CGA pamphlet C-6.
  • Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines.
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of driving experience or driving school training in the past 4 years (preferred).
  • Class A CDL with HazMat endorsement and airbrakes (or ability to obtain HazMat endorsement within 60 days of hire) (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Inspect cylinders prior to filling, following standard procedures as required by government, Maine Oxy, and distributor standards.
  • Prepares pressure cylinders and cryogenic vessels for filling: Attaches to manifold, evacuates cylinders to eliminate all possible contaminants.
  • Fills cylinders by pressure and weight, per regulations and standards.
  • Manually sets calibrations to analyze selected cylinders for purity, dew point, and other required qualities.
  • Conducts a variety of Safety checks per procedures, such as odor tests, checking caps and valves.
  • Accurately labels cylinders.
  • Completes daily fill sheets for every type of gas, as required by DOT, FDA, and Maine Oxy.
  • Learns the hazards of various gases; size and contents of cylinders by reading and interpreting cylinder labels and the color-coding of tanks.
  • Compiles with all government and company standards relating to the safe handling of hazardous materials/cylinder gases.
  • Provide support to the site lead including billing, routing, and monitor driver logs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
