The CDL Class A Delivery Driver plays a crucial role in the food supply chain by ensuring timely and safe delivery of food products to customers. This position involves driving a tractor trailer or straight truck on various routes, interacting with customers, and maintaining compliance with safety regulations. The driver is not only responsible for the delivery but also represents the company, building lasting relationships with clients.

  • Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors, and co-workers professionally.
  • Functions as a team member within the department and organization, performing any assigned duty.
  • Performs all required safety checks including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations.
  • Reports all safety issues and/or repairs required.
  • Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies.
  • Inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight.
  • Performs count check of items and checks customer invoices of loaded products.
  • Completes all required paperwork associated with freight accurately and legibly.
  • Moves tractor to the loading dock and attaches preloaded trailer as needed.
  • Drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule.
  • Unloads products from the trailer and transports items into designated customer storage areas.
  • Performs damage control checks on items and contacts supervisor about removing orders according to company policy.
  • Verifies delivery of items with customer and obtains proper signatures.
  • Collects money (cash or checks) where required and secures trailer doors.
  • Unloads damaged goods and customer returns and completes necessary paperwork.
  • Completes daily record of hours of service in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
  • Performs general housekeeping duties in tractor and loading dock area.
  • Secures all equipment and completes all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift.
  • 12+ months commercial driving experience
  • High school diploma/GED or state approved equivalent
  • Valid CDL A
  • Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
  • Pass post offer drug test
  • Pass road test
  • Valid current DOT Health Card or able to secure new DOT Health Card
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight.
  • 1+ years commercial driving experience with tractor-trailer vehicles
  • Foodservice or Distribution Industry Experience
