We are seeking a Grapple Truck Operator that is responsible for safely operating a grapple-equipped truck to load, unload, and transport rail materials such as ties, track panels, and debris along railways. This role requires adherence to strict safety and operational guidelines while working in a physically demanding and outdoor environment. Key Responsibilities: Operate a grapple truck along railways to pick up, transport, and distribute railroad materials. Load and unload track maintenance materials including cross ties, rail, scrap, and brush. Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections of the truck and grapple equipment. Ensure proper load securement and weight distribution in accordance with DOT and company regulations. Communicate with ground crew, track personnel, and supervisors using radios and hand signals. Maintain accurate records of material pickups and deliveries. Comply with all FRA (Federal Railroad Administration), DOT, and company safety rules and procedures. Perform minor maintenance and troubleshooting of grapple and truck equipment. Assist with other track maintenance and construction duties as needed. Qualifications: Required: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) Valid CDL (Class A or B) with clean driving record Experience operating heavy equipment, preferably grapple trucks Familiarity with railroad safety standards and work zone practices Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Willingness to travel extensively and work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays Preferred: Prior experience working in the railroad or transportation industry FRA roadway worker protection (RWP) certification OSHA 10 or 30-hour safety training Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, stoop, and climb in and out of the truck cab and railcars Tolerance for prolonged standing, walking, and exposure to loud noise, dust, and weather elements Manual dexterity and vision adequate to safely operate equipment Work Environment: Outdoor work environment with exposure to moving trains, equipment, uneven terrain, and varying weather conditions Frequent travel and overnight stays may be required Compensation: Competitive hourly wage (based on experience) Overtime and per diem for travel Benefits package including health, dental, vision, and 401(k) Cell Phone Stipend Boot Allowance Requirements Required Qualifications Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License Acceptable driving record per DOT and company standards Experience operating construction or maintenance equipment Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, and travel as required Preferred Qualifications Railroad or heavy construction experience Experience operating dump trucks, water trucks, or similar equipment Railroad safety certifications or willingness to obtain
