About The Position

A Class A CDL Truck Driver operates heavy vehicles (over 26,000 lbs), such as tractor-trailers, to transport goods safely across long distances or local routes . Key duties include performing pre/post-trip inspections, securing cargo, adhering to DOT regulations, logging hours, and ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining clean safety records. Core Responsibilities Safe Operation: Driving tractor-trailers, tanker trucks, or specialized vehicles in compliance with all federal, state, and local laws. Cargo Management: Loading, unloading, and securing freight using equipment like straps, chains, or load bars to prevent damage. Inspections: Conducting mandatory pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety (brakes, lights, tires). Documentation: Maintaining accurate electronic logs (ELD) of driving hours, mileage, fuel consumption, and inspections. Communication: Interacting with dispatchers, customers, and warehouse staff to manage delivery schedules.

Requirements

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• Air Brake endorsement is typically required; Hazmat, Tanker, or Doubles/Triples may be needed based on freight.
• Must pass a DOT physical examination and meet DOT drug testing requirements.
• Previous experience (often 1–2+ years) is preferred.
• Strong navigation skills, ability to operate GPS and in-cab computers, and basic maintenance skills.
