About The Position

Smithfield Foods is seeking a CDL A Driver for Live Haul in Waverly, VA. This position offers a competitive compensation of $21.75 hourly, with pay by load after training is complete. The role involves completing a driver training program and adhering to safety procedures while driving, delivering feed, and loading/unloading with a focus on animal welfare. The driver must comply with all DOT rules and regulations, report accidents promptly, and follow the rules set forth by the receiving agent. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Current Class A CDL.
• 1 year of commercial driving experience required.
• At least 21 years old.
• Acceptable driving record.
• Ability to obtain a DOT medical card upon hire.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule (nights, weekends, and holidays).

Responsibilities

• Successfully complete a driver training program.
• Follow required and recommended safety procedures while driving, delivering feed, or loading and unloading.
• Comply with all DOT rules and regulations.
• Report all accidents promptly through proper authorities.
• Comply with all rules set forth by the receiving agent.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
