About The Position

The position involves performing concurrent reviews of medical records to ensure accurate documentation. This includes reviewing new admissions and conducting subsequent reviews every one to two days for patients who remain in-house until discharge. The role also includes assisting the CDI Supervisor with data analysis, report generation, presentations, and training and orientation functions.

Requirements

• Active CCS certification or equivalent certification (CCDS, CDIP) or a medical doctor license (U.S. or outside) or an active Physician Assistant (PA) License or an active RN license in California.
• AS or Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, BS Medicine, or equivalent, or BS Nursing.
• Three (3) years of inpatient and outpatient coding experience in an acute hospital utilizing an encoder, or three (3) years of CDI or clinical experience with five (5) years preferred.

Nice To Haves

• Documentation training in ICD-10.
• Proficient clinical assessment skills.
• Thorough understanding of coding guidelines and physician documentation impact.
• Working knowledge of MS-DRG and APR-DRG.
