About The Position

As a CDI Specialist at R1 RCM, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of medical record documentation. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the completeness, accuracy, and reliability of clinical documentation, which is essential for appropriate reimbursement for services rendered. This position requires a strong clinical background, independent judgment, and the ability to interpret and follow CMS guidelines and organizational policies.

Requirements

• An active RN license
• Minimum of 3 years of recent clinical bedside experience in ICU, Tele, Med/Surg, or ED setting.

Responsibilities

• Review patient records for assigned patient population to evaluate documentation for accurate MS-DRG or APR-DRG assignment.
• Conduct focused reviews in areas identified by CDI leadership, including mortality reviews and PSI reviews.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on CDI practices, coding rules, and regulations, conducting risk assessments of compliance deficiencies.
• Draft and submit compliant queries to providers and conduct follow-up reviews of clinical documentation.
• Reconcile reviewed cases with final coding and communicate with coders to resolve discrepancies.
