About The Position

The CDI Coordinator facilitates accurate documentation for severity of illness and quality in the medical record. This involves extensive record review, interaction with physicians, health information management professionals, and nursing staff. Active participation in team meetings and education of staff in the CDMP® process is a key role. This position is responsible for reporting out all department findings and progress to the Senior Director of Revenue Cycle, the UMUR committee and other interested parties. Join us. Join great. Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited program of nursing.
  • Must possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice.
  • CDI certification from professional association required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs essential duties of the CDI Specialist -reviews records accurately and timely and looks for opportunities in documentation, initiates severity worksheets and queries physicians/providers appropriately.
  • Insures all discrepancies from recommended to coded DRGs are reviewed and resolved timely for department
  • Responsible for reporting out activity for CDI department as a whole to Senior Leadership, URMR and other interested parties.
  • Reports case mix monthly to hospitalists and works with Department Director to understand opportunities
  • Attends Hospitalist POC
  • Attends URMR
