About The Position

The CDE RN Clinical Level of Care Review position at Orlando Health involves providing concurrent review of clinical documentation in the medical records across the system. The role focuses on the NICU population, ensuring that the level of care is assigned appropriately by providers based on established clinical criteria. Requirements

  • Graduate from an approved RN school of nursing, BSN required.
  • Current State of Florida RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license.
  • Two (2) years of acute care hospital NICU RN nursing experience required.
  • Extensive clinical knowledge and understanding of pathology/physiology.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong knowledge of NICU population, Level of Care criteria, treatments, medications, and interventions.

Responsibilities

  • Review 100% of all NICU babies system-wide daily to ensure correct Level of Care is ordered based on clinical criteria.
  • Use established Level of Care criteria to review medical records and reconcile discrepancies with the provider/care team.
  • Conduct initial and follow-up concurrent reviews across all hospitals for targeted NICU admissions.
  • Coordinate with coding/HIM/UR and other departments to ensure accurate reflection of patient acuity and level of care.
  • Work with providers to capture appropriate orders for level of care for all NICU populations.
  • Document findings in workflow tools and track key information.
  • Provide education to providers and clinicians on the importance of complete documentation.
  • Manage reports and track data outcomes related to Level of Care changes.
  • Attend meetings and educational sessions as assigned.
  • Act as a team leader and support for regional management.
