The CAPS program manager position at the Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA) is responsible for coordinating the development of surveys, work plans, and budgets for Colorado projects in consultation with academic and agency partners. This role involves submitting work plans with USDA-APHIS, managing grant paperwork, preparing reports, and entering data into required databases. The manager will also conduct outreach to agencies, industry, and the public, and respond to detections of exotic pests. The position requires knowledge of pest management related to plant pathogens, insect pests, nematodes, and noxious weeds, with specialization in either plant pathogens or insect pests. Additionally, the role includes staff oversight responsibilities and some management of seasonal staff, as well as serving as a backup Accredited Certifying Official (ACO) for issuing phytosanitary certificates.
