AECOM is currently seeking an experienced CCTV Engineer to join our growing team in support of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) in the Arlington, VA area.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent plus 8 years of related experience, or Associate’s degree in Electronics, Information Technology, Security Systems, or a related field with 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Valid U.S Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review
  • Due to the projects associated with the position a US Citizenship is required
  • 5 years of experience installing and maintaining CCTV or electronic security systems

Nice To Haves

  • Industry certifications (e.g., Axis, Milestone, Genetec, Lenel, CCNA, BICSI)
  • Strong knowledge of IP-based and analog camera systems and video management software
  • Experience with network infrastructure, including TCP/IP, PoE, switches, and cabling
  • Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and system layouts
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving system performance issues
  • Familiarity with security regulations, data privacy requirements, and best practices
  • Experience with large-scale or enterprise surveillance systems
  • Experience working in transportation, government, healthcare, or critical infrastructure environments
  • Technical problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail and system accuracy

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and engineer CCTV and video surveillance infrastructure to support organizational security and operational requirements
  • Plan and specify system architecture, including camera networks, server/storage systems, control rooms, and network connectivity
  • Conduct site surveys and risk assessments to determine optimal system layout, camera placement, coverage zones, and equipment requirements
  • Serves as lead engineer on mid- to large size projects
  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise
  • Approves and signs off on work
  • Provides technical expertise for studies and design efforts
  • Presents complex technical solutions to clients
  • Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others
  • Participates in development of technical proposals
  • Provides estimates for the engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements on large projects.
  • Develop technical drawings, layouts, and infrastructure documentation for new installations and system expansions
  • Select appropriate hardware, software, and network components based on performance, scalability, and security needs
  • Install, configure, and commission CCTV systems in accordance with approved designs and industry standards
  • Integrate surveillance systems with access control, intrusion detection, and enterprise network platforms
  • Perform system testing, troubleshooting, and performance optimization to ensure reliability and image quality
  • Manage system upgrades, capacity planning, and technology refresh initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, privacy regulations, and applicable security standards
  • Provide technical guidance and support to security teams, IT staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation, including network diagrams, system configurations, and as-built drawings
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and project teams throughout design, installation, and implementation phases
  • Must be on-site 4 days/week
