CCSHP Program Director II - EMS Education

As Program Director II of the Cleveland Clinic School of Health Professions (CCSHP), you will organize, administer and review the EMS Education Program. In this role, you are essential to the running of this critical course, ensuring students meet required standards and maintain competencies across all fields of related experience. Your efforts help train the next wave of Paramedics and EMTs, making you an invaluable member of our family of caregivers.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement and evaluate the curriculum and the teaching strategies for the program, ensuring alignment with the program philosophy, objectives, course sequencing, student recruitment, tactical planning and student graduation requirements.
• Assess and ensure the quality and outcomes of the program by conducting evaluative studies of students, graduates, registry/licensure/certification exam pass rates, program resources and other programmatic metrics as applicable.
• Provide feedback and support to students and faculty to ensure graduates are competent to manage the delivery of procedures and possess the knowledge, skills and attributes to provide safe, high quality patient care.
• Interview and select students for the program according to established admission criteria.
• Ensure maintenance of approval/accreditation status and compliance with all applicable regulations, statutes, personnel qualifications and reporting requirements.
• Ensure program structure is aligned with criteria governing eligibility for available sources of student tuition assistance and financial aid as applicable.
• Develop and manage a departmental budget, investigate and recommend options related to purchase needs and participate in comprehensive financial analysis.
• Provide leadership to the program, manage program support personnel, recommend changes in program support levels, conduct performance evaluations and provide disciplinary measures as appropriate.
• Guide the individual and collective program faculty's professional growth and ensure equity and inclusivity in the learning environment through current literature, workshop attendance, seminars, membership in professional organizations and networking.
• Facilitate student participation in registry/certification/licensure examination procedures appropriate for the discipline.
• Serve as an academic advisor to students enrolled in the academic program.
• Establish and lead the program advisory board.
• Ensure students receive appropriate career advising through Cleveland Clinic Talent Acquisition and/or outside employers.
• Ensure affiliation agreements are completed and current.
• Manage student grievances and dismiss students as appropriate.
• Provide support to program students and graduates seeking employment in the field and facilitate connections between program students/graduates and Cleveland Clinic Talent Acquisition.
• Conduct program orientation for new students.
• Assign faculty teaching loads.
• Ensure accurate records of student attendance.
• Teach, manage and evaluate student achievement.
• Ensure all promotional content for the program accurately reflect program offerings and accreditation requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in EMS, Education or a related healthcare field.
• Relevant certification, registration, licensure, or recognition appropriate for the field.
• Three years of teaching or occupational experience or a combination of the two in the program field.
• Proficiency in curriculum design, evaluation, instruction, program administration, academic advising and accreditation procedures.
• Documented education or experience in instructional methodology.
• Academic training and experience equivalent to that of a Paramedic.
• Experience in the delivery of prehospital emergency care.
• Knowledge of current versions of the National EMS Scope of Practice/National EMS Standards and evidence-informed clinical practice.
• Completion of a Fire and Emergency Services Instructor, Level II (FESI) Course within 90 days of hire.
• State of Ohio Paramedic Certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Basic Life Support Instructor (BLSI) and International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) Instructor Certifications through the American Heart Association within one year of hire.
