About The Position

Under minimal direction, perform skills within discipline with a high degree of knowledge and understanding of the work being performed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or one to three months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must fit one of the following criteria
  • 4 years experience in the field
  • 3 years experience with sign off from field supervision of exemplary skills met
  • Exemplary includes, but not limited to: Rating of 3 or higher on performance reviews
  • Completed registered apprenticeship program Eligible to become apprenticeship mentor (incentive program available, formal training required)
  • Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward Wanzek's Zero Injury principles
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Add and subtract two digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10's and 100's; ability to perform these operations using units, weight measurement and volume
  • Common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form

Responsibilities

  • Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures
  • Produce high quality work, meeting requirements of plans, specifications and industry standards
  • Develop basic understanding of blueprints and project specifications
  • Measure distances from grade stakes, drives stakes and stretches tight line
  • Bolts, nails, aligns and blocks up under forms
  • Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications
  • Level earth to fine grade specifications using shovel or other hand tool
  • Mix concrete using portable mixer
  • Smooth and finish freshly poured cement or concrete using float, trowel or screed
  • Position, join, align and seal pipe sections
  • Erect scaffolding, shoring and braces Mop, brush or spread paints or bituminous compounds over surfaces for protection
  • Spray materials such as water, sand, steam, vinyl, paint or stucco through hose to clean, coat or seal surfaces
  • Apply caulking compounds by hand or with caulking gun to seal crevices
  • Grind, sand or polish surfaces such as concrete, using abrasive tools or machines
  • Perform tasks involving use of hands and tools, such as demolishing buildings, sawing lumber, dismantling forms, removing forms from concrete, mounting pipe hangers and cutting and attaching insulating material, demolitions, cleanup, use of jackhammers, etc.
  • May be required to travel to different jobsites on limited notice
  • Maintain a professional appearance
  • Other Duties as assigned
