About The Position

The CCEC Grants & Accounting Analyst is a specialized financial role responsible for the analysis, tracking, and compliance oversight of grant and funding sources supporting CCEC programs. Serving as the primary liaison between the Accounting Department and CCEC, this position ensures that grant funds are accurately budgeted, properly expended, and fully compliant with funding agreements, accounting standards, and organizational policies. The position requires strong working knowledge of grant accounting, nonprofit fund accounting, and expenditure timing, along with the ability to analyze financial data and translate complex funding requirements into clear, actionable guidance for program and leadership teams. The Analyst plays a critical role in supporting fiscal integrity, compliance, and informed decision-making across CCEC operations.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of grant accounting and nonprofit fund accounting
  • Understanding of allowable cost principles, funding restrictions, and expenditure timing
  • Familiarity with state, federal, and private grant compliance requirements
  • Knowledge of budgeting, financial analysis, and reconciliation practices
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and financial reporting tools
  • Ability to interpret complex funding agreements and translate them into practical financial guidance
  • High attention to detail with strong documentation and organizational skills
  • Effective communicator able to collaborate with finance and program teams
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in grant accounting, financial analysis, or nonprofit accounting

  • Experience working closely with Accounting/Finance departments preferred
  • Prior experience supporting audits or funder financial reporting strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the financial liaison between Accounting and CCEC for all grant-related activity.
  • Analyze grant budgets, burn rates, and expenditure trends to ensure funds are spent accurately and within required timeframes.
  • Review and validate grant expenditures, ensuring correct account coding, cost allocation, and alignment with approved budgets.
  • Support monthly and quarterly reconciliations and financial close processes related to grant funding.
  • Analyze grant agreements to determine: Allowable and unallowable costs, Spending deadlines and performance periods, Cost allocation methodologies, Matching or cost-share requirements (if applicable)
  • Provide informed guidance to CCEC staff on how, when, and under which funding source costs should be incurred.
  • Identify, document, and escalate compliance risks, variances, or funding constraints.
  • Support the development and ongoing monitoring of grant budgets and budget modifications.
  • Prepare, analyze, and reconcile grant financial reports for internal leadership and external funders.
  • Investigate variances between budgeted and actual expenditures and recommend corrective actions when needed.
  • Develop and maintain financial tracking tools, spreadsheets, and dashboards to monitor grant performance.
  • Provide analytical support to CCEC leadership regarding: Funding utilization, Cash flow timing (reimbursement vs. advance funding), Risk of underspending or over-expenditure
  • Use financial data to support strategic funding decisions and planning.
  • Prepare financial documentation and schedules to support audits, funder monitoring visits, and compliance reviews.
  • Ensure grant-related financial records are complete, accurate, and audit-ready.
  • Partner with Accounting to respond to audit inquiries and resolve findings related to grants.
  • Analyze existing grant financial processes and recommend improvements to strengthen internal controls and compliance.
  • Assist in developing standardized grant accounting procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Support training for CCEC program staff on financial compliance and grant spending requirements.
