The Pipefitter position is categorized into three journey levels, each with specific qualifications and responsibilities. The Journey Level III Pipefitter is written and performance certified, capable of performing tasks proficiently with little or no supervision, and can take on a leadership role. The Journey Level II Pipefitter is either written or performance certified and can perform tasks proficiently with some supervision. The Journey Level I Pipefitter requires a minimum of 3 years of industrial experience and can perform most tasks with close supervision. Qualifications for this position include craft certification or relevant certification with experience, and a high school diploma or equivalent may be required. Candidates must have a minimum of 36 months of documented field experience at the Helper 3 level in their chosen craft discipline. The ability to read and interpret instructions, plan, and perform work activities independently is essential. The degree of job responsibilities and requirements may vary depending on the candidate's experience.

  • Layout, assemble, install and maintain pipe systems, pipe supports and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for various systems.
  • Select the type and size of pipe according to job specifications confidently.
  • Inspect work sites to identify obstructions and ensure structural integrity.
  • Plan the sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and coordinate with other construction workers.
  • Skillfully cut pipe using various tools such as hacksaws, pipe cutters, and cutting torches.
  • Assemble and install a variety of metal and non-metal pipe and fittings.
  • Join piping using methods such as threading, caulking, soldering, and brazing.
  • Secure pipes to structures with clamps, brackets, and hangers using hand tools.
  • Install and maintain refrigeration and air conditioning systems, including compressors and controls.
  • Test piping systems for leaks by increasing pressure and observing gauges.
  • Craft certification or relevant certification with experience.
  • Minimum of 36 months documented field experience at Helper 3 level in chosen craft discipline.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions and documents.
  • Ability to plan and perform work activities independently.
  • High school diploma or equivalent may be required.
  • Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
  • Make decisions based on measurable criteria.
  • Apply shop mathematics to solve problems.
  • Plan work and select proper tools.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in adhering to and implementing project HSE policies.
  • Must supply own tools appropriate for basic tasks.
