About The Position

The Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Coordinator is responsible for managing hazardous waste and materials, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and supporting the EH&S Manager in various safety and environmental programs. This role involves tracking hazardous materials, maintaining Safety Data Sheets (SDS), conducting safety inspections, and assisting in the development of safety policies and procedures. The coordinator plays a crucial role in promoting a safe working environment and ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and 2 years of experience in an EH&S program.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English.
  • Knowledge of safety precautions and materials used in hazardous waste management.
  • Minimum of 3 years practical experience in safety and occupational health program administration.
  • Valid state operator's license and ability to obtain a government Common Access Card (CAC).
  • Ability to work weekends, shifts, and overtime as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 series and Navy instructions.
  • Experience in developing and implementing safety policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties as Hazardous Waste worker including generation, storage, transport, and disposal of hazardous waste.
  • Manage hazardous material control including requisition approval, labeling, storage, and tracking.
  • Update and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) in designated work areas.
  • Assist the EH&S Manager with compliance to OSHA and company safety regulations.
  • Manage specific safety programs such as Respiratory Protection, Confined Space, and Hazardous Communication.
  • Assist in site environmental programs including Environmental Management System (EMS) and Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC).
  • Resolve potential or actual safety and environmental compliance issues.
  • Order hazardous materials and manage inventory using NAVSUP HMC&M Tool.
  • Conduct inspections of hazardous material lockers and storage areas.
  • Perform technical research and maintain records for compliance and corrective actions.
  • Conduct fire prevention inspections and maintain fire safety equipment.
  • Assist in investigations of work-related injuries and prepare reports as per OSHA requirements.
  • Participate in safety inspections and audits to identify hazards.
