About The Position

The position involves inspecting, maintaining, packing, and adjusting aircrew flight equipment such as flight helmets, oxygen masks, parachutes, flotation devices, survival kits, helmet mounted devices, aircrew night vision and other ocular systems, anti-G garments, aircrew eye and respiratory protective equipment, chemical biological protective oxygen masks and overalls, and other types of AFE and aircrew chemical defense systems. The role includes repairing fabric and rubber components, evaluating problems, and determining the feasibility of repair or replacement related to inspecting and repairing fabric, rubber equipment, and parachutes. The candidate will also install and remove aircraft-installed AFE, use various types of test equipment to conduct reliability testing on AFE and ACDE, and maintain inspection and accountability documentation on AFE issued to air crews or prepositioned on aircraft. Proficiency in AFE inspection and maintenance procedures, parachute construction, and handling hazardous materials is required. Additionally, the candidate must become proficient in basic helicopter ground handling procedures such as towing, jacking, and refueling/defueling.
