About The Position

The Aircraft Tire/Wheel Mechanic is responsible for disassembling, cleaning, inspecting, repairing, reassembling, and replacing aircraft and support equipment tire and wheel assemblies. This role requires adherence to Maintenance Instruction Manuals (MIMs), Illustrated Parts Breakdowns (IPBs), Maintenance Requirements Cards (MRCs), Technical Directives (TDs), Navy instructions, manufacturer's manuals, and other approved data. The mechanic must possess knowledge of tire and wheel maintenance practices, applicable technical manuals, and the operation of repair equipment. Responsibilities also include performing quality control inspections, initiating reports under the Naval Aviation Maintenance Discrepancy Reporting Program (NAMDRP), and assisting management in investigating defective materials or incidents. The mechanic is expected to maintain cleanliness in the work area, comply with safety regulations, and document work accurately.
