Requirements

  • Degree in Animal Science, Ag Business, or equivalent hands‑on cattle experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of cattle handling, health, nutrition, genetics, and feedlot operations.
  • Proven ability to make sound decisions quickly and maintain accuracy in fast‑paced environments.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with veterinarians, managers, and team members.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including coaching, team building, and promoting a positive culture.
  • Highly organized, self‑directed, and able to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Competent with livestock record‑keeping software and basic Microsoft Office programs.
  • Physically able to meet the demands of cattle work, including lifting, walking, and equipment operation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a crew of 3–4 team members to maintain a positive, high‑performing work environment.
  • Oversee daily cattle processing, including sorting, tagging, weighing, and accurate data entry.
  • Prepare seedstock for sale through fertility testing, record management, and presentation readiness.
  • Monitor animal health daily through pen riding, timely treatment decisions, and clear communication with management.
  • Support feedlot operations by assisting with cattle flow, treatments, and general livestock handling tasks.
  • Safely operate and maintain equipment such as loaders and other machinery essential to daily operations.
  • Ensure accurate inventory, animal identification, and movement tracking across all seedstock and feedlot cattle.
  • Collaborate closely with division managers to keep cattle work efficient, timely, and aligned with operational goals.
